Project: Blue Earth
Client: Maj Dorup
Date: 2022
Description:
Maj came to the workshop with simple instructions: "A steel structure for a five-meters diameter sphere with a foot, a round opening and a platform for the public to stand inside that can be transported to the other side of the world". With this basic set or requirements, taking into account the available budget and the safety considerations, a technical design was created and the production process defined. After a few iterations and adaptations, the final design was agreed upon and production could start. It took two weeks for the team to complete the build, bending and welding the ten parts that make up the sphere. Delivery took place on a single crane-equipped truck to Maj's atelier, where we assembled the sphere so that she could continue the work by mounting lights and plastic pieces onto the structure.
Client feedback:
"Blue Earth has had a massive success which is wonderful! I'd be a delight to work with Georges again!" Maj D
